I’ve tried pretty much all the video editors for Mac and PC. In my opinion the best freeware video editor is Kdenlive. It’s more like Sony Vegas than Movie Maker on windows or iMovie on Mac. However, as freeware, it lacks a lot of features. Cinelerra is good as well but prone to crashes. If you want a decent video editor I’d look at Final Cut Express, it’s around $200 but it is far superior to any freeware video editor by a significant margin.
iMovie is great, but for the price I would upgrade to Final Cut Pro. It’s Great!
